Our Story
"I've jumped" was the voice that echoed down the phone. It was 2003 and Norton was explaining to a friend that he'd left the Corporate world to start up his own business.
After 20 years of leading and implementing strategic change in large organisations and sitting on BAA's leadership development board for four years he realised he'd been climbing the career ladder at his own expense. Recognising that the unearthing of his own purpose had led him to this point in his career, he called the company "On Purpose".
Lynn joined in 2006 having spent the first twelve years of her career as a primary school teacher specialising in working with those with challenging behaviours. Although passionate about teaching she also "jumped" when she became frustrated at the system not being flexible enough to accommodate the real needs of the children she was working with. Although a teacher in the classroom by profession Lynn spent many years assisting on management courses in the outdoors and was able to bring her understanding of behaviours to the world of leadership.
Through a shared passion for learning and wanting to make a difference to the world of work, Lynn and Norton have created unique leadership journeys for all those who work with them. On Purpose aim to deliver you an experience which is meaningful and endures.
Your On Purpose Experience
Your experience with us will take you on a journey of discovery and aid you in creating a clear direction for going forward either as an individual, team or organisation.
All leadership happens within a context, so we will gain clarity around your context and then unearth the leadership intention, motivation and awareness to enable your leadership to be meaningful. From this place you can "connect, lead and make a difference".
Your unique leadership journey is important to us, so we aim to create safe environments where you are able to explore your untapped wisdom and knowing. With this in mind, we don't teach, we facilitate learning. We work in small groups which are informal, encouraging dialogue and sharing so you can make sense of your experiences and discover more about yourself as a leader.
One of the reasons that people keep coming back for more and recommending us to others is the personal way in which we facilitate, it's challenging, yet safe. We respect confidentiality and we care about the whole person, team and organisation.
The learning environment
After using a variety of hotels and training rooms within Aberdeen and the Shire in 2015 we made another "jump" to our own office space and training room. Our training room is where our philosophy is brought to life; a space to learn and reflect with a community of leaders.
Set in the beautiful countryside of Kemnay, on the Netherton Estate with plenty of free parking, the On Purpose training room offers a quiet, yet professional relaxed space for training courses and facilitated events.
Whenever possible we add to the On Purpose experience with lunch being provided onsite by the talented Noelle Fyfe who with her passion for cooking creates lunches and cakes which are homely and nutritious.
